Ola Cell Technologies (OCT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Ola Electric, today announced that it has received the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification under IS 16046 (Part 2):2018 / IEC 62133-2:2017 for its indigenously developed LFP 46100 cylindrical cell.

With this achievement, Ola Electric becomes the first Indian company to receive BIS certification for an indigenously developed cell in the 46100 format, marking another significant milestone in India's journey towards advanced battery manufacturing and energy independence.

In addition to BIS certification, the LFP 46100 cell has successfully qualified under IS 16893 Parts 2 and 3 and UN 38.3 standards, confirming that the cell has completed the prescribed electrical, mechanical, environmental, reliability, abuse, and transportation-safety evaluations. Developed with significant localization across materials, components, engineering, and manufacturing processes, the LFP 46100 demonstrates Ola Electric's growing ability to develop, qualify, and industrialize advanced cell technologies within India.

To achieve the BIS certification, Ola Electric's 46100 LFP Cell underwent a series of stringent safety, performance, and endurance tests at a National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL)- accredited laboratory. Overall, the cells underwent multiple qualification tests, including thermal abuse, external short circuit, forced discharge, impact, altitude, abnormal charging, vibration, continuous low-rate charging, crush, free fall, and mechanical shock assessments.

With the certification, Ola Electric said it has become the first Indian company to receive BIS approval for a domestically developed cell in the 46100 format.

The company said the LFP 46100 cell has also qualified under IS 16893 Parts 2 and 3 and UN 38.3 standards, confirming compliance with prescribed electrical, mechanical, environmental, reliability and transportation safety requirements.

According to Ola Electric, the battery cell has been developed with significant localisation across materials, components, engineering and manufacturing processes, strengthening its in-house battery technology capabilities.

The company said the cell underwent a series of safety, performance and endurance tests at a NABL-accredited laboratory. These included thermal abuse, external short-circuit, forced discharge, impact, vibration, crush, free-fall and mechanical shock assessments.

The certified LFP 46100 platform expands Ola Electric's in-house battery portfolio beyond its NMC 4680 Bharat Cell platform. The company said the cell offers an energy density of more than 170 Wh/kg and is designed for applications where safety, lifecycle and cost efficiency are critical.

Ola Electric added that thousands of vehicles powered by its 4680 Bharat Cells are already operating on Indian roads, covering millions of kilometres in real-world conditions.

The company said its Gigafactory and common 46-series battery architecture for both NMC and LFP chemistries are expected to support future mobility and energy storage applications while reducing dependence on imported cell technologies.

Ola Electric Mobility has approved the allotment of 21,75,78,428 equity shares of face value of Rs 10 each to eligible qualified institutional buyers at an issue price of Rs 35.86 per equity share (including a premium of Rs 25.86 per equity share), which takes into account a discount of 4.98% (i.e., Rs 1.88 per equity share) to the floor price of Rs 37.74 per equity share, determined in accordance with Regulation 176(1) of the SEBI ICDR Regulations, aggregating upto Rs 780.24 crore, pursuant to the Issue.

Pursuant to the aforesaid allotment, the paid-up equity share capital of the Company has increased from Rs 44,108,298,850 comprising 4,410,829,885 equity shares of face value of Rs 10 each to Rs 46,284,083,130 comprising 4,628,408,313 equity shares of face value of Rs 10 each.

The company's Fund Raising Committee, at its meeting held on 1 June 2026, approved the opening of the issue and adopted the preliminary placement document and application form to be circulated to eligible qualified institutional buyers.

The committee also approved a floor price of Rs 37.74 per equity share for the issue. The floor price is at 3.23% to the ruling market price and it is at a discount of 4.53% to the previous session's closing price of Rs 39.53.

Ola Electric said it may offer a discount of up to 5% on the floor price, subject to regulatory provisions and shareholder approval obtained in November 2025. The final issue price will be determined by the company in consultation with the book-running lead managers.

The company has fixed 1 June 2026 as the relevant date for determining the floor price of the QIP.

The fundraising exercise follows approvals granted by the company's board in October 2025 and by shareholders through a special resolution passed in November 2025.
