The scope of work includes the design and construction of a 22.21 km tunnel using tunnel boring machine (TBM) technology to transport water from Kondhane Dam in Karjat to a proposed water treatment plant at Mohope in Panvel. It also involves the design, build, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the 250 MLD water treatment facility.

In addition, the contract includes 15 years of comprehensive operations and maintenance under a design, build and operate (DBO) model.

The project is part of CIDCO?s plan to strengthen long-term water infrastructure for Navi Mumbai and adjoining regions, aimed at supporting rising urban and industrial water demand.

Shares of Hindustan Construction Company fell 2.67% to Rs 20.05 on the BSE.

Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) secured a significant infrastructure contract valued at approximately ~2.917.6 crore from City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) for the construction of a 22.21 km raw water tunnel and a 250 MLD water treatment plant in Raigad. The project has been awarded to the LCESPL-HCC Joint Venture, in which HCC is responsible for executing works worth approximately Rs 1,100 crore.

The project involves the design and construction of a 22.21 km long raw water tunnel using Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) technology, conveying water from Kondhane Dam at Village Chochi in Karjat to a proposed 250 MLD Water Treatment Plant (WTP) at Village Mohope in Pan vel.

The scope of work also includes the design, build, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the water treatment plant, along with 15 years of comprehensive operation and maintenance under a Design, Build and Operate (DBO) contract model.

The project will be executed by the Aakshya-HCC Joint Venture, where HCC holds a 49% stake.

The contract covers construction of a second-level flyover and free-left at-grade movements in Phase I, including a 1,330-metre flyover, 3,200-metre at-grade road, and 2,620-metre free-left at grade. Phase II includes a cloverleaf interchange and free-left bypasses at grade, spanning 2,400 metres for the cloverleaf loop and 3,600 metres for free-left bypasses. The project also entails a 180-metre cable-stayed span and ramps totaling 270 metres.

The GMLR Phase IV project is part of BMC?s broader plan to improve east-west connectivity across Mumbai, enhancing traffic flow and reducing congestion in the corridor.

HCC said the order reinforces its position in executing complex urban infrastructure projects in India, combining elevated flyovers, at-grade roads, and advanced interchange designs.
