The scope of the work order encompasses the removal of rock pinnacles and high spots at the Coastal Berth of Jawaharlal Nehru Port, followed by the disposal of the dredged material at the designated dumping ground, DS-3.

This technically critical rock dredging assignment necessitates extensive pre-treatment and the execution of underwater controlled blasting, subsequent to high-precision drilling operations in rock formations exhibiting compressive strengths in excess of 170 megapascals.

The operations will be carried out through an integrated deployment of advanced marine assets, including a dedicated drilling and blasting barge, trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHDs), a backhoe dredger, self-propelled hopper barges, and secured explosives storage facilities.

KMEW has 60 days to mobilise the equipment and get all the requisite permissions before commencing the works.

Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works has received a work order from Dredging Corporation of India (DCIL) for Rock Dredging (removal of pinnacles/ high spots) at Coastal Berth at JNPA and discharge of dredged material at DS-3 Dumping Ground. According to an exchange filing, the order involves the hiring of one River Sea Vessel (RSV) Type IV Security Patrol Boat, with all manpower provided by KMEW, excluding High-Speed Diesel (HSD). The contract is valid for a period of five years.

Under the agreement, the patrol boat will be exclusively dedicated to security operations at New Mangalore Port, including patrolling and monitoring port waters to ensure the safety of vessels, personnel, and port infrastructure. KMEW said the deployment is expected to enhance port security and contribute to the safe functioning of the port.

The company will construct the patrol boat in-house to meet specific operational requirements and ensure timely deployment. KMEW said that building the vessel internally provides a cost advantage and sets the stage for further growth and enhanced service offerings at Mumbai Port.
