Tata Steel Ltd fell 2.35% today to trade at Rs 696.25. The S&P BSE Metal index is down 0.85% to quote at 12549.93. The index is up 12.46 % over last one month. Among the other constituents of the index, Hindustan Zinc Ltd decreased 2.06% and Hindalco Industries Ltd lost 1.21% on the day. The S&P BSE Metal index went up 18.96 % over last one year compared to the 18.29% surge in benchmark SENSEX.

Tata Steel Ltd has added 11.98% over last one month compared to 12.46% gain in S&P BSE Metal index and 6.74% rise in the SENSEX. On the BSE, 1.26 lakh shares were traded in the counter so far compared with average daily volumes of 7.77 lakh shares in the past one month. The stock hit a record high of Rs 731.35 on 07 Jan 2021. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 250.9 on 30 Mar 2020.

Tata Steel's Indian crude steel production rose 2.90% to 4.60 million tons (MT) in Q3 December 2020 (3QFY21) from 4.47 MT in Q3 December 2019 (3QFY20).

On a sequential basis, Tata Steel India's crude steel production has improved marginally from 4.59 MT in Q2 September 2020 (2QFY21).

Tata Steel India saw strong sales momentum in 3QFY21, however, sales volumes were constrained by lower opening inventory post very strong sales in 2QFY21. As a result, deliveries were 4.66 MT in 3QFY21, lower by 8% as compared to 5.05 MT in Q2 FY21 and lower by 4% from 4.85 MT in 3QFY20.

Domestic deliveries sharply ramped up to 4.16 million tons which translates to an increase of 8% QoQ (quarter-on-quarter) and 4% YoY (year-on-year). Exports shrank below 11% of overall deliveries.

During the quarter, despite planned maintenance shutdowns, the company was able to ramp-up steel production at Tata Steel Europe by 22% QoQ and 4%YoY to 2.61 MT. This was aimed at replenishing inventory ahead of improving market condition and seasonally better Q4 March 2021 (4QFY21).

While Q3 FY21 steel sales volume declined by 7% QoQ and 10% YoY to 2.11 MT, due to lower opening inventories and COVID-19 impact at beginning of the quarter, the mix of deliveries saw further improvements in the Automotive and Engineering sectors.

We also remain focused on aggressively managing costs and cashflows while pursuing deleveraging,” the steel maker said in a BSE filing made after trading hours on Friday (8 January 2020).

Tata Steel reported 49.58% decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 1,665.07 crore on 7.4% increase in net sales to Rs 36,475.66 crore in Q2 FY21 over Q2 FY20.

Tata Steel India's crude steel production stood at 4.60 million tons in Q3 FY21 compared to 4.47 million tons in Q3 FY20 and 4.59 million tons in Q2 FY21. Tata Steel Europe's crude steel production stood at 2.61 million tons in Q3 FY21 compared to 2.51 million tons in Q3 FY20 and 2.15 million tons in Q2 FY21.

Tata Steel India delivery volumes stood at 4.66 million tons in Q3 FY21 compared to 4.85 million tons in Q3 FY20 and 5.05 million tons in Q2 FY21. Tata Steel Europe delivery volumes stood at 2.11 million tons in Q3 FY21 compared to 2.35 million tons in Q3 FY20 and 2.27 million tons in Q2 FY21.

The steel major on 1 January 2020 transferred the 51% stake it holds in Jamshedpur Continuous Annealing and Processing Company (JCAPCPL) and 50% stake it holds in Tata BlueScope Steel (TBSPL) to Tata Steel Downstream Products (TSDPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the company.

The steel maker said that TSDPL has been identified as the anchor entity for downstream business. Accordingly, the company's investment(s) held in entities forming part of downstream business are being consolidated with TSDPL.

While disclosing Q2 September 2020 earnings, Tata Steel had announced that it was reorganizing its India footprint and folding listed and unlisted subsidiaries into four clusters to drive scale, synergies and simplification and to create value for all stakeholders. The business clusters are long products, downstream, mining and utilities & infrastructure.
