On a sequential basis, the bank?s total business rose around 10% QoQ.

The bank's total deposits stood at Rs 3,46,998 crore in Q4 FY26, recording a growth of around 12% YoY and 12.7% QoQ.

During the quarter, net advances stood at Rs 2,53,538 crore, registering a growth of around 16% YoY and 6.2% QoQ. CASA deposits were at Rs 1,54,873 crore, up around 7% YoY and 14.2% QoQ.

IDBI Bank is engaged in the business of monetary intermediation of commercial banks, saving banks, postal savings banks, and discount houses.

The bank?s standalone net profit jumped 97.5% to Rs 3,627.36 crore on a 9.6% rise in total income to Rs 9,593.64 crore in Q2 FY26 over Q2 FY25.

The counter fell 1.35% to Rs 68.58 on the BSE.

The sharp decline follows a 16.49% drop in the previous session after media reports suggested that the government?s plan to sell its stake in the lender may have been scrapped due to lower-than-expected financial bids.

According to reports, bids from potential investors were below the reserve price set by the inter-ministerial group on disinvestment under the finance ministry, which was approved by the core group on disinvestment chaired by the Cabinet Secretary. Bids were reportedly submitted on 6 February 2026 after shortlisted bidders completed regulatory clearances and due diligence, with Fairfax, led by Prem Watsa, and Emirates NBD among the bidders.

The government and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) are looking to divest a combined 60.72% stake in the bank, comprising 30.48% held by the Centre and 30.24% by LIC. Currently, the Centre owns 45.48% in IDBI Bank, while LIC holds 49.24%.

The disinvestment process began in October 2022, when expressions of interest were invited from potential investors. IDBI Bank was earlier rescued by LIC in January 2019, when the insurer acquired a 51% stake for around Rs 21,624 crore, following which the Reserve Bank of India reclassified it as a private sector bank.

Meanwhile, the bank, in a clarification to stock exchanges on 16 March 2026, said it cannot confirm or deny the media reports, stating that the disinvestment process is confidential and handled by the Government of India through a competitive bidding route. It added that it has not received any communication from the government regarding cancellation of the stake sale.

On a consolidated basis, IDBI Bank's net profit rose 0.31% to Rs 1954.09 crore while total income declined 3.21% to Rs 8,351.61 crore in Q3 December 2025 over Q3 December 2024.

Bandhan Bank Ltd lost 7.97% to Rs 161.6. The stock was the second biggest loser in 'A' group.On the BSE, 12.47 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 4.08 lakh shares in the past one month.

TTK Prestige Ltd tumbled 7.18% to Rs 503.8. The stock was the third biggest loser in 'A' group.On the BSE, 37996 shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 35556 shares in the past one month.

Adani Total Gas Ltd slipped 6.69% to Rs 526.2. The stock was the fourth biggest loser in 'A' group.On the BSE, 15.35 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 7.36 lakh shares in the past one month.

Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd corrected 6.11% to Rs 1372. The stock was the fifth biggest loser in 'A' group.On the BSE, 99272 shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 40059 shares in the past one month.

The government and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) were planning to sell a 60.72% stake in IDBI Bank. The Centre and LIC proposed parting with 30.48% and 30.24% stakes, respectively. The Centre currently holds 45.48% in the lender while LIC owns 49.24%.

The strategic disinvestment process began in October 2022 when the government and LIC invited expressions of interest (EoI) from potential investors. Financial bids were reportedly submitted on 6 February after shortlisted bidders completed regulatory clearances and due diligence.

Media reports said bids were submitted by Fairfax, led by Prem Watsa, and Emirates NBD.

IDBI Bank was earlier rescued by LIC in January 2019. The insurer acquired a 51% controlling stake for about Rs 21,624 crore to address rising bad loans. After the transaction, the Reserve Bank of India classified IDBI Bank as a private sector bank.
