The notified product includes textured toughened glass with a minimum of 90.5% transmission, thickness not exceeding 4.2 mm, and where at least one dimension exceeds 1500 mm (whether coated or uncoated). The product is commonly referred as solar glass, solar PV glass, or high-transmission photovoltaic glass.

Under the notification, the duty will be levied as a percentage of the CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) value of the imported goods. Imports from Xinyi Solar (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and SBH Kibing Solar New Materials (M) Sdn. Bhd. will attract a duty of 9.71%, while imports from all other producers will be subject to a duty of 10.14%.

This measure will not only protect domestic manufacturers but also accelerate investments in expansion of local production, driving exponential growth across India?s solar glass industry.

Borosil Renewables is engaged in the business of manufacturing of extra clear patterned glass and low iron solar glass for application in photovoltaic panels, flat plate collectors and green houses.

The company reported consolidated net profit of Rs 169.13 crore in Q4 FY26 compared with net loss of Rs 200.99 crore in Q4 FY25.

The board of Borosil Renewables at its meeting held on 12 May 2026 has approved the proposal for seeking approval of the shareholders by way of an enabling resolution at the ensuing Annual General Meeting, authorising the Board to raise funds, as and when required, up to an amount of Rs. 750 crore, using such modes as the Board may deem fit including but not limited to (a) Further public offer (b) issuance of American Depository Receipts or Global Depository Receipts (c) issuance of Foreign Currency Convertible Bonds (d) Qualified institutions placement or any combination thereof.

The board of Borosil Renewables at its meeting held on 12 May 2026 has approved enhancing the existing business of the company by starting a new division to sell rooftop solar solutions.

Net profit of Borosil Renewables reported to Rs 169.14 crore in the quarter ended March 2026 as against net loss of Rs 20.10 crore during the previous quarter ended March 2025. Sales rose 17.77% to Rs 439.92 crore in the quarter ended March 2026 as against Rs 373.54 crore during the previous quarter ended March 2025.

For the full year,net profit reported to Rs 129.08 crore in the year ended March 2026 as against net loss of Rs 69.57 crore during the previous year ended March 2025. Sales rose 5.17% to Rs 1555.84 crore in the year ended March 2026 as against Rs 1479.33 crore during the previous year ended March 2025.
